French Policeman, Two Others Killed In Magnanville Hostage Situation

A French police officer, his wife and their attacker were killed in a hostage situation in the Paris suburb of Magnanville on Monday evening.

A man took the wife and son of a policeman hostage after stabbing the officer to death.

The suspect was later shot dead after French authorities said that negotiations with him failed as he refused to talk to police negotiators.

The woman’s body was also found but their 3-year-old son was rescued unhurt.

The officer, aged 42, was returning home, out of uniform, around 9PM local time when he was stabbed multiple times.

The suspect had held the family hostage in the policeman’s home in Magnanville, northwest of the French capital.

The identity or the real motives of the attacker is not yet known.

Thousands of Irish football fans were in the city on Monday night following the Republic of Ireland’s Euro 2016 clash with Sweden.

Magnanville is located in Yvelines, about 50 kilometers (31 miles) northwest of Paris.
